Written by Dr. & Mrs. Keith Gomez @ 5:00PM

Carla and I came out to Sacramento on June 15…the same day of the accident…to be with our son. My wife has not had any break from being by Josh’s side since we arrived. I was able to go home for 10 days and preach. It was somewhat of a relief for me to be away from the daily routine of the hospital and being caregiver. Of course, I wish I could have been here with my son and my wife, but I know that I needed to at least go home for a Sunday or two. It has been almost 25 days for me and 35 days for Carla.

Josh’s therapy is coming around fairly well. He is improving every day. We have a long way to go. He seems to think that he sees things and people that he knows. This is all part of having a brain injury, so we will have to work on this as time goes on.  During several sessions, he has begun to sweat profusely. They call this brain storming as his brain is trying to relate to the problems they are giving him to solve. I guess his receptors are hitting at such a rate that it causes him to perspire. I want you to continue to pray for his eye, which seems a bit hopeless but I am praying that the Lord continues to do some wonderful things and heals his eye. Of course, continue to pray for his brain functions as these are developed every day with the exercises we put him through.

I am excited about coming home within several days and I trust that you will continue to hold us up in prayer as we try to get this accomplished. Again, I want to thank everyone who sent letters, notes, money or messages on the CaringBridge site.  Thank you from the depths of my soul. I trust that as time goes on, many of you that have prayed and have really felt under the burden of this thing will be able to see Josh so he can personally thank you. He is so appreciative of all the people and is absolutely overwhelmed by your concern. Thank you for your love and concern for the Gomez family. Mrs. Gomez and I are both very weary and we look forward to getting back home with all of you.

Please pray for the services at Northwest this Sunday, and also for us as I preach out here in California at Steve Nichols’ church in Sacramento on Sunday morning and then at Mike Ray’s church in Napa, California on Sunday evening. Pray that things will go well.  We love and appreciate each and every one of you.
