On Tuesday around
11:00 AM, Josh walked out of the UC Davis Hospital with his mother, and
Shawn & Amy Walker. I was outside of the building taking care of
some business with the pharmacy and the records department about
getting everything transferred to Illinois.
I called and told them to meet me downstairs as they checked out right
by the automobile to take him back to the motel. As Josh walked out on
the walkway of the hospital he tried to shout as loud as he could,
“Yeah, I’m free!” As he descended the
steps he threw his arms around me and said, “My Physical Therapist!” We
have a long way to go in his recovery. They call him the “walking
wounded.” So, as we proceed in rehabilitating him I trust that you will
continue to pray for him. The atrophy in his
muscles has taken its toll and over a period of time we will work at
getting him stronger where he can function on his own. Pray that all of
the medical procedures in Illinois will go well and we will be able to get him some help there also.
Tonight I will be preaching at Bro. Hedger’s church in downtown Sacramento. After the services, we will catch a redeye back to Chicago and should arrive around 5AM on Thursday morning.
Years ago, I visited
a couple in their home and spoke to them about the Lord. We haven’t
communicated in a while, but they heard about Josh and called in to see
if they could pick up Josh in a stretch limo at the airport. They own a
limo company and wanted to do this to be a blessing to him, so I have
allowed them to do this. Josh will enjoy the ride home. We will then
get him settled in his room at home and sit down with the extended
family and talk about the care he will need for the next year. I pray
that all will go well, and everyone will understand and get on the same
page as we try to rehabilitate our loved one.
Again, thank you all,
of course, for your wonderful notes and prayers and expressions of
love. Thank God we are getting away from this place that has, not only
bad memories, but also miracle memories. And,
thank God we are going home where we all belong and to the ministry
where God has called us. Please pray for us and continue to check on
Josh’s progress as we post the updates on his site.
Thanks again from all of us!
Sincerely,
Dr. Keith Gomez
