Well, a lot of things have happened since we left Sacramento. We walked out of the motel where we have lived for 40 days. All the personnel there knew us by name and said they were going to miss us. As we went through the airport, a number of strange things happened. A TSA man got to preaching to Josh about how God wanted to use him and that He had a purpose for Josh and that’s why He spared his life. Of course, this man didn’t know us from Adam so Josh thought it very unusual that this man would do this. Many others have felt this same way too!
Then, at the airport, we ran into an old friend of Josh’s, Dan Grady. Dan had booked a flight into Sacramento in order to see Josh on his way to a business trip in LA. When he read on the website that Josh had checked out of the hospital, Dan knew he would not get a chance to see Josh, so he was just going to rent a car and drive to LA for his appointment. When Dan got off the plane, he ran right into us there at the airport. So he did get to visit with Josh and with us. We had a good time of fellowship.
After we got on the plane, the Captain came back to talk to me and Josh for awhile. I asked him about the pressurization of the cabin on the ascent and descent and what could be done about that to help relieve the pressure Josh would feel in his head and sinuses. The Captain said he would make it easier for Josh. He also told us that he rode motorcycles and after chatting with us, he decided he would never ride a bike without a helmet again! He lives in Colorado where they also do not have helmet laws. He was a very kind Captain and did a good job flying the plane where the cabin pressure was very easy on Josh.
We had a wonderful trip home where we were met by one of our church members, Kevin Winterroth, who just wanted to welcome Josh back at 5 o’clock in the morning! Then some folks that I had reached years ago brought a big, black stretch limousine to pick us up and take us home. They just wanted to do that for Josh to be a part of and to see a walking miracle. So we were delivered home and we were so glad to be back where we belong.
After a much-needed rest, the entire family rendezvoused together over lunch as we rejoiced with Josh on his homecoming! We had a wonderful time of love, laughter and fellowship together as a family.
We want to thank all of you for praying for us. We will continue to keep you updated. Thank you so much for your love, consideration and kindness to the Gomez family.
Sincerely,
Dr. Keith Gomez
