I am happy to report that we finally have a team of doctors helping Joshua. When he went into the hospital on Sunday, he looked like someone who fell out of the back end of a concentration camp. He went from 231 pounds before the accident in June to 130 pounds as of this past Sunday. Needless to say we have been tremendously concerned with his digression. For many weeks he has been throwing up all of the food he would eat, only keeping down a bit of yogurt, Ensure and a little cereal. The doctors here have found out what some of his problems are. He was bleeding internally from gastritis and ulcers. Josh received two units of blood. They determined that he couldn’t keep food down because of kidney stones, which may have been caused by problems with his pituitary gland. They are giving him shots and medication to remedy this. When I walked into his room today, he was joking and laughing. His ghostlike color has changed dramatically. He is now getting a little more color and pigmentation to his skin. Today he was able to keep down the little bit of food that he did eat. It seems like he is on the upswing and we trust this will continue to be the trend.

Carla had laparoscopic surgery on Thursday. They discovered cancer on one of her ovaries and seed cancer in her abdomen. They removed those that had metastasized. They are doing analysis on it now. The doctors feel they have not yet discovered the primary source of the cancer. The test will tell where the primary source is located in her body. The doctors seem to think it might be coming from the upper GI. We are praying that it is not in the pancreas. She is resting well, albeit in pain from the surgery. We will probably have Christmas in the hospital this year and hope that shortly after that we can all return to our home.

I want to thank all of you that have written cards and letters of encouragement and also thank you to those who have logged in to this website and left notes for us. I love you and appreciate you more than you will ever know.

The advanced studies that God is putting me through right now could never be taught in school. Would you please pray that I graduate with honors?

Sincerely your friend,
