Mrs. Gomez had a good day on Tuesday. Being at home and in a more relaxed atmosphere has really lifted her spirits. She sat up in a chair from around 8:00 to 11:00 in the morning. She ate some toast and yogurt and drank water with lemon. She received visitors, but the visits are spaced out and we have asked that people only take just a moment to see her.
In between those visits, our children and grandchildren spend time with her.
At one point yesterday, Josh came out of the room crying as he overheard his mother offering words of encouragement and love to her guests. Dr. and Mrs. Dan Woodward have been at the home assisting with the needs of the Gomez family, and when they asked Josh why he was crying he said, “Mom has something good to say about everyone, even if they don’t deserve it!” Josh has his quick wit and spirit back and he has been feeling so much better. He is eating very well. He is having a wonderful time sampling all the goodies that have been provided by the very generous church family and friends!
Northwest Bible Baptist Church has been such a blessing as they have provided so much food, supplies, and assistance in every way possible. As phone calls are made, the needs are being filled and we thank you so much for helping our family at this time. There are so many of you that are filling needs that it would be impossible to mention your names for fear of missing someone. Please understand how much I love you and appreciate every single gesture, no matter how small it may seem to you.
Today one of my pastors and his wife, Dr. & Mrs. Bob Smith will fly in from Texas to see Carla. My sisters also arrive this afternoon from Baton Rouge. Dr. DeWayne Nichols and his wife will be here tonight to preach and teach at the college for the next couple days. He has graciously said he would preach on Sunday as well. Dr. Terry Anglea, Dr. Randy Taylor, Dr. Andy Edwards, Dr. Wendell Runion, Dr. Cecil Ballard, Dr. Bill Grady, Pastor Steve Meister and many other pastors have been or will be in to visit with Mrs. Gomez and me in the next few days. We so much appreciate each one of them taking time out of their busy schedules to come see Carla.
Words cannot express my gratitude and my love to you for your continued prayers.
