Mrs. Gomez has had three bad nights in a row. She was struggling so badly this afternoon that it was necessary to cancel many of her appointments for visits from church members and friends.
She is so appreciative of everyone taking time to see her and for all the gifts, cards, and flowers. She told me, “God is so good to me that He would allow me to have a living wake. I get to enjoy all the beautiful flowers now, and I get to see the wonderful people who are visiting me that I love so much. And, look outside, it’s snowing! This is such a wonderful day!” If you knew how very weak and sick she is, you could appreciate her attitude and spirit much greater for these statements. She is an amazing woman as everyone who knows her can testify!
She did not eat well today, just a little cream of wheat. Because she is so weak and not feeling well, we had to cancel many of the afternoon and evening appointments. Earlier in the day she did get to see Dr. & Mrs. Bill Grady, Pastor and Mrs. Woody Baumgartner, Pastor & Mrs. Chris Shurilla, and Pastor & Mrs. Steve Meister, and some of her precious church people. We are so sorry about those of you who had an appointment but were not able to see her. We really don’t know how she will be doing from day to day, or even hour to hour. We may have to call and postpone appointments and we hope you understand. We will try to reschedule your appointment if at all possible.
I am certainly glad that Dr. DeWayne Nichols from San Antonio, Texas, preached on Wednesday and that he will also preach for me on Sunday. He is my dear friend and he and Mrs. Nichols love Carla very much. I am certainly glad that he is here for me because I am not in any shape to preach at this time.
Please continue to pray for Carla’s comfort during this time, and for my family and for my church.
